An effective treatment for processing traumatic events.

EMDR is a unique form of psychotherapy that focuses on processing traumatic events. EMDR is usually very effective if you have experienced an event that led to trauma, such as in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This may result from facing death, experiencing violence, sexual abuse, or witnessing such events. EMDR can also help with less severe events that still have a significant impact on your current thinking, feeling, and reacting.

During an EMDR session, the focus is on a specific traumatic memory while using distracting stimuli such as eye movements or sounds. This process helps reduce the emotional charge of the memory and store it in a healthier way.
